Fatal Crane Accident in Franklin County Claims 2 Lives

John Marcoux, 66, of Chambersburg, and Christopher Robison, 49, of Marion, died on Friday morning, February 2 as the result of a crane accident at Manitowoc Cranes in Shady Grove, PA.

According to police, both men died of blunt force trauma at the scene. Another man, Isaac Notz, is in critical condition, and two additional people were treated and released for injuries.

Because the incident involves fatalities, OSHA is required to investigate. State Police and the Franklin County Coroner’s Office are also investigating.

State police can't reveal details from the accident due to OSHA’s ongoing investigation, which can sometimes take months to complete. However, the scene was described as “very chaotic,” with a forensics team onsite.

Fatal work accidents are devastating. In situations involving death or serious injury in the workplace, it is often hard for families and injured workers to cope amid sudden tragedy. However, it is important for employees and their families to take measures to ensure their rights are protected under the law immediately following an accident.
